Allyability: (a) An ally who is a liability. “With friends like these, who needs enemies?” Male feminists, privileged white antiracists, Me, etc. (b) The Ability of the Ally. The jury is still out on what, exactly, that means.
Verbalomit: (a) Verbal vomit, or (b) “verbal” + “omit.” A narcissistic and/or unoriginal stream-of-consciousness that has secretly been edited. Certain items in the stream have been omitted, in the author’s insecurity. Few authors are able to admit that they do this; none can truly say they don’t.* In the context of this blog, this term is also used loosely to describe posts whose propositional movement is one-dimensional, which break The Rules without having first learned said Rules, and/or are of dubious usefulness (such as: a post with unnecessarily hifalutin terms like “propositional movement” that the author actually just made up, or a post in which the author overindulges in self-depreciation).
Commessaynt: An internet comment with a [Great] wall [of China] of text. The best of these could survive, with minor changes, as argumentative essays. The majority are vigorous rhetorical hand motions in what some call “internet circle-jerks.” I’ll stretch this out: Commessaynts often reveal the commenter’s desire to be viewed as Saintly. The author of this post is a prolific writer of Commessaynts,
but and he’s slowly getting better.
Unwittingly self-centered male feminist. (a) Man + Feminist; (b) Me + Feminist. This is an offspring of “Allyability.” The Meminist sallies forth upon a valiant steed, quixotically storming the patriarchal windmills in which he imagines Femselists in Distress to be held prisoner. He is unaware that actual feminists are assaulting said windmills with tanks, artillery, and rhetoric freed from the confines of linear combat-metaphor competitive thinking.
In subverting and/or marginalizing the cause he aims to support, the Meminist may be called out for doing so, and subsequently
(a) suffer an episode of Nice Guy™ syndrome,
(b) go all Benedict Arnold and morph into a Vile Manarchist,
(c) learn and grow as a person, or
(d) any combination of the above.
Femselist: See “Meminist.” (I’m on a roll.)
Sarcarrogasm: Masturbatory sarcastic arrogance: “sarcasm,” “arrogance” and “orgasm.”
Ambigenderous: A human being of ambiguous gender. (Not to be confused with a person of ambiguous sex.) Possibly handy for those of us who are Genderqueer.
Genderp: “gender” and “derp.” The phenomenon of conflating sex with gender, when voices abound distinguishing the two and by now we really oughtta know better. No, being willfully ignorant and disrespectfully dismissive of marginalized voices is not an excuse.
Ableism: Not actually a portmanteau upon which I call dibbs, or a portmanteau at all, but rather discrimination against
the [people who are] disabled. (For an example, see “ Genderp” above.) Voices abound that call this out, and by now we really oughtta know better; no, being willfully ignorant and disrespectfully dismissive of marginalized voices is not an excuse.
Dismisspect: Disrespectful dismissal. In a sentence: “Manarchists exhibit exceptional dismisspect of identity politics.”
Portmanteaus upon which I could not call dibbs, but would like to draw attention to:
Manarchist: “Man” and “anarchist.” Someone who exhibits exceptional dismisspect of identity politics. (For a more detailed explanation, see the link under Meminist.)
Obamapologist: “Obama” and “apologist.” A person who apologizes for President Barack Obama’s complicity with evil, and
should know better is familiar with the harshest left-wing criticism of his administration.*** “That Obamapologist is asking me to weigh Obama against Romney, when I’ve said ‘they represent the same moneyed interests!’ a million times.”
*(as if I can say that with even a modicum of certainty)
“x” here meaning “[much longer and humorously specific] y“
technique, and will fight anyone who disapproves.
***Sometimes misused to refer to persons defending the President from conservative criticisms. This is wrong, and also Wrong.
